A Journey across India In support of the Women’s Reservation Bill

The Women’s Reservation Bill passed in the Rajya Sabha in March is facing a very strong opposition even before it is placed in the Lok Sabha from many corners of our patriarchal society.

In order to fight this opposition and gather support for 33% reservation for women in the Parliament, Anhad, a Delhi based secular organization has taken the initiative to conduct a campaign of three Karwans - in which groups of supporters of the Women’s Reservation Bill will be traveling to various cities across India to hold public and press meetings.

The Journey of the 3 ‘Karwans’ has commenced on 20th May and one campaign group (Karwan) will be reaching Hyderabad on 2nd June, Wednesday, 2010.

Asmita Resource Centre for Women is hosting this Karwan in Hyderabad which includes meeting, discussions with the activist of the Karwan, press meet and a public meeting.
In this regard we request your support to express solidarity for the Women’s Reservation Bill by attending either the meeting with the Karwan during the day or the Public meeting in the evening. Details are given below.
